My Sort-Of First Weekend

Last weekend was the first in a while where I haven’t had to pack or unpack or do chores or paperwork or… well, anything. I didn’t have to do anything. I broke my ‘Manhattan rooftop bar’ duck on Friday evening. I think I did it in pretty classy style, by shoving my lunch box into my… Read More My Sort-Of First Weekend

Nesting Is Eggspensive

Something strange keeps happening to the gravity over here. I was at work today and handfuls of the free teabags they leave out for staff to enjoy in the office somehow fell into my bag. The same thing happened with quite a lot of plastic cutlery in the canteen, too. It’s not like the flimsy… Read More Nesting Is Eggspensive

Visual Overload

So, my threat of adding loads of pictures to my last post was hampered by the free wifi wherever I was at the time being unable to cope. So guess what? This post is going to take ages to load up and probably not be that interesting. But I think I can live with myself.… Read More Visual Overload

My Kingdom For Some Vegetables

I’m still alive in New York. Although at this point it’s worth mentioning that I’m basically in the danger zone for scurvy and obesity. The food here is insane. It’s quite an achievement really, to be able to create platefuls that size and at no point include anything green. Still, I’m not really complaining. The… Read More My Kingdom For Some Vegetables

Just A Quickie

Just a quick post to say that I am, indeed, alive and kicking. Although I’m trying to at least not kick anyone too important. The first couple of days here have been orientations – basically lots of talks by people about things that should mainly be common sense, but that maybe we all needed to… Read More Just A Quickie

Shipping Out

I love London. I’ve been in and out of the city my entire life. It’s the kind of place where every time you turn a corner there’ a memory. For me, at least. They’re usually not even big or particularly important memories. Just simple things that made me smile at the time. Many of these… Read More Shipping Out

Sealife is weird, man. (Feat. The equinoctial tide)
Sitting high up, watching the shadows of the clouds on the beach, probably looking like I was having a moment, but actually listening to a Liane Moriarty audiobook and congratulating myself on having left the house before lunchtime 🙃
Beer And Sunset season is sooooooo close 😬
This cave is pretty close to my house, and I've always been curious what it looked like inside. The problem is there's a river in the way. But today I walked seven miles around an entire estuary and back in bad shoes just to stick my head in, and I'm honestly only posting this to give me something to show for the limp I now have.
